Some of My Favorite Retro Things

by SweetSugarMama on June 10, 2011

There is no denying Retro is in.  In a big way.  Here are some of my favorite things Retro.

Cafe 50s in Santa Monica, California.  Step into this place and you’ll feel like you just walked back in time.  Could it be all the 50s memorbilia, the comics spinner rack, or just good old diner food that makes me nostalgic about an era I wasn’t around to see?

Polaroid’s 300 Instant Camera is sleek yet Retro.  I used to fight with my brothers to see who would wave the prints and get a first glimpse of the picture.  The instant is back people.  If you want to capture all the fun times you’ll have this Summer rock one of these babies this season.

For those times you just don’t want to carry your camera with you.  I’m so in love with this App.  I use it all the time.  What’s fun with it is that you can experiment with different settings.  You can have the same pictures in different styles.

Here’s a look at some of the pictures I’ve snapped using this little cam.

Sweetness?  Hum…..

My husband & best friend

Taylor – “Yes, fine, Mom, I’ll smile then let me ride bike in peace, please!”

My Nirve bike.  I just got a wicker basket to go with it and it makes me feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.  I love the beautiful details on the seat.  For a ride down to the beach, the market or just around town, I love my bike.

Awkward Family Photos by Mike Bender and Doug Chernack.  I had to leave my favorite for last.  Make sure to enjoy this book in a place where you can laugh out loud (because you will).  Oh dear Lord!  That’s all I can say.  We all have pics like these from way back when we were growing up.  If you want instant gratification or want to see what this book is all about, the authors have a website where thousands of people post their awkward photos daily.  You must read the captions on the pictures to get the full effect.  Enjoy!
