Fun Kid Activities for the Summer

by SweetSugarMama on June 13, 2011

“Mom, I’m bored!”  This is payback for the many times I complained of boredom myself.  This goes along with, “There’s never anything to eat in this house” (I’ll discuss this one on a different post/day).   At the end of Summer I feel like a washed out clown.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the time I get to spend with them during these months; it’s just that I run out of ideas sometimes.

So, I’ve started a list of stuff to do this Summer to keep handy in case boredom kicks in.  Here are some of our favorites.

A little oasis just for them.  It can be inside their rooms or outside in the back yard.  A wild safari expedition or a day in the rainforest is just an imagination away.  This one is by far my boys favorite.  Last Summer we set the tent up in the living room and moved it around a couple of times to different locations throughout the house and yard.

Rock Painting Creations

If you have an outdoor table this works best, since it keeps the mess outside.  I have my kids first explore for their rocks.  Once they have a good collection, it’s time to create their characters.

Make an I-Spy Bottle from tiny toys, erasers or any other small object you may have around the house.
